Charli XCX is taking her latest album rollout beyond traditional streaming platforms, partnering with TikTok for an interactive in-app fan experience.
To celebrate the release of her new album, “Music, Fashion, Film,” TikTok has launched a dedicated hub featuring exclusive content from the artist, interactive fan challenges, an unlockable profile frame and other album-themed activities. The campaign is supported by a global marketing effort that includes prominent in-app promotion, social media campaigns and a billboard activation in New York City’s Times Square.
Charli XCX, who has more than 5.6 million TikTok followers, said fan creativity remains one of the most rewarding parts of releasing new music.
One of my favorite things about making music is seeing how fans take it somewhere I never expected,” stated XCX. “Watching people create with my songs and share their own ideas around the music is always inspiring. I’m excited for everyone to enjoy “Music, Fashion, Film” on TikTok and can’t wait to see what fans create.”
The campaign builds on the cultural success of the artist’s 2024 “Brat” era, which became a defining trend across TikTok and other social media platforms, demonstrating the platform’s influence on music consumption and online fan communities.
Charli XCX is not the only artist embracing social-first album launches. Recent campaigns for Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift have also featured interactive digital experiences hosted on social media platforms rather than streaming services.
The trend comes as streaming platforms continue investing in social features of their own. Spotify has expanded collaborative playlists, messaging tools and live listening experiences in recent years in an effort to strengthen fan engagement beyond music playback.
