AI music generator Suno is actively laying the groundwork for a future public listing.
According to job listings spotted by MBW, the San Francisco-based startup is recruiting key senior finance roles, including a Director of Accounting tasked with helping the firm “build toward IPO readiness.” The position will oversee Suno’s first-year financial audit and establish internal controls required for public capital markets.
Rapid Growth and Executive Recruitment
The hiring push follows rapid financial expansion for the company:
- Valuation Jump: Raised over $400 million at a $5.4 billion valuation, up from $2.45 billion seven months prior.
- Revenue & Users: Crossed 2 million paid subscribers with annual recurring revenue (ARR) reaching $300 million.
- Headcount Push: Currently employs roughly 200 people with plans to increase staff by up to 70% by the end of the year.
To support its growth, Suno has aggressively recruited music industry talent. Leadership includes Chief Commercial Officer Jeremy Sirota (former Merlin CEO) and Chief Music Officer Paul Sinclair (20-year Warner Music Group veteran), alongside recent hires from YouTube and Atlantic Records. The accounting team buildout is being led by Controller Jake McNeill, former Global Controller at Sony’s Crunchyroll.
Ongoing Legal Challenges
Suno’s IPO preparations come while navigating major copyright litigation from the recorded music industry:
- Warner Music Group: Settled its copyright lawsuit with Suno in November 2025 via a “first-of-its-kind” partnership deal (reported to include an equity stake).
- Active Lawsuits: Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment remain locked in active litigation, alongside European collecting societies (GEMA, Koda) and a proposed class action by independent artists over alleged unauthorized training on copyrighted music.
Alongside its corporate scaling, Chief Product Officer Jack Brody recently teased plans for an upcoming developer API, signaling a shift toward a “partner-powered model” for the platform.
