Guy Sebastian has ended his long-running legal battle with former manager Titus Day after the pair reached a confidential settlement this week, bringing nearly a decade of financial and legal disputes to a conclusion.
The resolution follows a statement from Day dated August 10, in which he apologized to Sebastian and accepted responsibility for payments that were received by his management company but not passed on to the singer.
Day acknowledged that he had been a “poor steward” of Sebastian’s income during the latter part of their professional relationship, including money collected after Sebastian departed his management in late 2017. He said failures by his company to properly account for and transfer payments were his mistake and recognised the impact they had on Sebastian and his family.
He also expressed regret over how the dispute was handled, saying he should have taken a more reasonable approach earlier in the process. According to Day, Sebastian had attempted to resolve the matter before criminal proceedings began, with terms he now regarded as fair.
Sebastian himself said Day’s apology and acceptance of accountability had allowed him to put aside his civil claim and forgive his former manager.
The dispute dates back almost a decade. Sebastian began working with Day in 2006, before joining Day’s 6 Degrees agency in 2009.
In 2022, Day was convicted of embezzling almost $625,000 and received a maximum four-year prison sentence, though he was released on appeal after serving seven months.
A subsequent criminal trial in 2025 ended with Day being acquitted on four charges, while the jury could not reach verdicts on another 31 counts. Prosecutors chose not to pursue another trial, leading Sebastian to pursue the matter through the civil courts.
Now, that case has been withdrawn as part of the confidential settlement.
