LOS ANGELES – Independent rock stalwarts The Reckless have dropped their latest single, “Darling Please,” a track that signals the band’s continued commitment to their signature emotionally charged, guitar-driven sound. The single, which hit streaming platforms this week, marks the group’s first release since early 2025.
Comprised of Fritz Fayman (guitar, lead vocals), Riku Myllykoski (drums), John Kelly (guitar), and Michael Kennedy (bass, backing vocals) , The Reckless recorded “Darling Please” with production duties handled by Fayman and Myllykoski, and Cottee Embry taking the reins on mixing and mastering. The track itself is a collaborative effort, penned collectively by the band members through what they describe as a “conversational” approach to both lyrics and arrangement.
While “Darling Please” is a re-release of an older song, this updated version boasts “tighter mixing, new parts, and a more representative sound” of the band’s evolution. Known for their compelling live shows across regional circuits in the U.S. and Europe, The Reckless have also garnered a following for their meticulously crafted studio recordings, which deftly fuse post-punk urgency with melodic restraint. Their last new material arrived in January 2025 with the EP “Who Are You” , whose title track quickly racked up over 30,000 streams on Spotify in under two months.
Though details remain somewhat under wraps, The Reckless have confirmed they are actively working on a full-length album, eyeing an early 2026 release. Fans can anticipate more singles and live performances in the lead-up. Adding to the excitement, a music video for “Darling Please” is slated for release this Sunday, July 27. The band promises a visual narrative that delves deeper into the song’s themes, utilizing analog textures and “intentional disorientation”.
The San Diego-bred band, an SD Award Nominated act, aims to revitalize a classic rock ‘n’ roll sound with contemporary flourishes. They’ve consistently packed venues in their hometown and across the Los Angeles area, including notable spots like SOMA, The Holding Company, and The Viper Room. With a summer tour along the California Coast and stops in Phoenix, Arizona, on the horizon, The Reckless are poised to further expand their devoted fanbase.
While no additional touring or full-length release details have been solidified, representatives for the band indicate that more announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
