With the 60th CMA Awards nominations just around the corner, speculation is growing over which country artists will receive recognition this year. Among the artists expected to have a major presence is Ella Langley, who could be heading into the ceremony with one of the strongest nomination hauls of her career. According to Billboard’s early predictions, Langley is expected to be a major contender across several categories. While she is unlikely to break Alan Jackson’s record of 10 nominations in a single year, timing could be the biggest factor working against her. Langley’s musical collaboration with Koe Wetzel was released too late in the eligibility period to be considered a major Musical Event contender. Despite that, Billboard predicts that Langley could still have as many as four opportunities across categories including Musical Event and Music Video. Langley’s potential success would mark another major step forward following her breakout year. At last year’s CMA Awards, Langley tied for the most nominations with six. This year, however, she is projected to potentially lead the nominations and receive her first-ever nomination for Entertainer of the Year. An EOTY nomination could also make history. If the predictions come true, three solo female artists could be nominated for Entertainer of the Year in the same year, a feat that has not occurred in approximately 60 years of the CMA Awards. The possibility would add even more significance to what could already be a career-defining night for Langley.
The official nominations will be revealed on Good Morning America, with Lara Spencer announcing this year’s nominees.
With Langley’s momentum continuing to build, the question now is whether Billboard’s predictions will become reality—or whether the CMA voters have a few surprises in store
