A Vintage Sound Reimagined
Mon Laferte steps into a new artistic chapter with the release of the official video for “Melancolía,” a track that draws inspiration from the golden age of Spanish-language rock of the 1950s and 1960s. While the song channels retro sonics, it maintains the intimate emotional core that defines her latest album, Femme Fatale. The single serves as the first glimpse into what may be Laferte’s most daring exploration of femininity yet.
A Visceral Vision of Femininity
Femme Fatale, Laferte’s ninth studio album, unfolds across 14 tracks that weave together power, fragility, sensuality, and disorder. Entirely written by Laferte, the record presents a woman in all her complexity—glamorous in one moment, unrestrained in another, and always deeply human. Through her unmistakable voice and evocative lyricism, she offers a sweeping portrait of modern womanhood shaped by love, heartbreak, and self-discovery.
Each song is matched with a unique visual concept, building the image of a nocturnal, enigmatic figure who drifts between fractured glamour, raw desire, and the contemporary “sad girl” aesthetic. The visual world of the album is the result of a significant creative partnership between Laferte and acclaimed Chilean filmmaker Camila, adding cinematic depth to the project.
Collaboration and Reinvention
The album features standout collaborations with Nathy Peluso, Conociendo Rusia, and TIAGO IORC, as well as a bilingual milestone for Laferte on “My One And Only Love,” performed alongside Natalia Lafourcade and Silvana Estrada. Laferte also revisits the 1920 classic “Mi Hombre,” originally sung by Mistinguett, reimagining it through her own femme fatale lens.
A Sound That Lives in the Night
Musically, Femme Fatale drifts through lush lounge arrangements, jazz influences, bolero warmth, and lyrical pop, all supported by live instrumentation. The result is a soundscape both nostalgic and contemporary—an album that feels rooted in the past yet undeniably alive in the present.
A New Tour on the Horizon
Mon Laferte has also announced a Spring 2026 tour that will bring her latest work to major cities across South America, Central America, and Mexico. Fans will have the chance to experience the full power, elegance, and emotional intensity of Femme Fatale live on stage.
With “Melancolía” as its opening statement, Femme Fatale stands as one of Laferte’s most ambitious and expressive works to date—bold, vulnerable, and unmistakably hers.
