Kid Rock released a new album Halfway 2 Jesus on October 17 new song followed by a released single “Heal My Faith,” featuring Eminem, and artificial intelligence.
During his appearance on Real Time with Bill Maher, Kid Rock revealed that he used AI to help create a choir for the song’s chorus in “Heal My Faith”. Though hesitant at first. However, for his song “7 Sins,” from his latest album Halfway 2 Jesus, real singers were used for the choir portion.
Kid Rock explained that his decision to use AI for “Heal My Faith” ultimately came down to saving time.
“I know AI is something different,” Kid Rock said. “I always tell people, you know, it’s a tool right now. I see the dangers of it. I one thousand percent believe it needs to be regulated at the highest levels.”
When confronted by Bill Maher with the question of putting singers out of a job, Kid Rock countered with, “Did we put drummers out of work when the drum machine was invented?” He expressed AI can be used a tool for musicians.
Kid Rock explained that “Heal My Faith” was intended to bring old friends together through collaboration, demonstrating that friendship can overcome differences, even when those differences involve politics.
Eminem addressed the collaboration on social media, writing, “Not about choosing sides, just choosing to make music with my old friend. Praying for all of us.”
