The estate of disco icon Donna Summer has entered into a new partnership with Primary Wave Music, adding another legendary catalog to the company’s rapidly expanding roster of artist estates and heritage brands.
Under the agreement, Primary Wave will work alongside Summer’s estate to manage and develop opportunities tied to her music catalog, recordings and name, image and likeness rights.
The partnership will expand Summer’s legacy through marketing, brand partnerships, synchronization licensing, digital campaigns and potential film and television projects. The estate will also gain access to Primary Wave’s publishing and marketing infrastructure as both parties seek new ways to introduce Summer’s music to future generations.
Few artists have had a greater impact on popular music than Donna Summer. Often referred to as the “Queen of Disco,” she sold more than 100 million records worldwide and helped define the sound of dance music during the 1970s and 1980s. Her influence continues to resonate across pop, electronic and club music over a decade after her passing in 2012.
Summer’s catalog includes some of the most enduring recordings in modern music history, including “Hot Stuff,” “Bad Girls,” “Last Dance,” “Love to Love You Baby,” “She Works Hard for the Money” and “On the Radio.” Perhaps most influential is “I Feel Love,” the groundbreaking 1977 collaboration with producer Giorgio Moroder that helped lay the foundation for electronic dance music and remains one of the most celebrated recordings of the modern era.
Her achievements extend far beyond commercial success. Summer earned multiple Grammy Awards, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2013, and entered the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2025. Her catalog continues to generate significant cultural and commercial value through streaming, licensing, sampling, and media placements.
