Spotify is continuing to invest in music video discovery, unveiling a new global ranking dedicated entirely to music videos alongside a feature that allows artists to submit their videos directly for editorial consideration.
The newly introduced Music Video Charts Global tracks the platform’s 50 most-streamed music videos each day, offering listeners another way to discover trending visual releases. Spotify also plans to spotlight the week’s 10 biggest-performing videos across its social media channels every Tuesday, further amplifying standout releases.
The rollout accompanies a significant expansion of Spotify’s growing video ecosystem. Artists participating in the platform’s ongoing music video beta can now submit official videos, live performances and other eligible visual content to Spotify’s editorial team in much the same way musicians have long pitched new singles for playlist placement. Qualifying videos must either be unreleased or have debuted within the previous week.
Editorial teams will evaluate submissions for placement across several video-focused playlists, giving emerging and established acts another avenue to reach listeners through visual storytelling.
Spotify says the investment is backed by encouraging user behavior. According to company data, listeners who watch a full-length music video become substantially more engaged with an artist afterward, streaming not only the featured song more frequently but also exploring a larger portion of the artist’s catalog. Those users are also more likely to save tracks, share them with friends and add them to personal playlists.
The announcement builds on Spotify’s broader effort to transform video into a core part of its music experience. Since first testing full-length music videos in 2024, the company has steadily expanded availability, introduced direct artist uploads and shifted away from its short-form Clips format in favor of a dedicated Video tab.
