Because Music has strengthened its executive leadership team with the appointment of Pedro Winter as Global Head of Creation and Co-Managing Director of Because Music France, deepening a partnership that has shaped some of the most influential French music of the past two decades.
The Paris-based executive, entrepreneur and label founder will oversee a broad range of operations within the company’s French division, including marketing, artist development, promotion, catalog strategy, branding, merchandising, synchronization and commercial activities. In his newly created global role, Winter will also guide the company’s creative direction across audiovisual and musical projects worldwide.
The appointment formalizes a long-standing relationship between Because Music and Ed Banger Records, the independent label Winter founded in 2003. The two companies have worked closely together since the mid-2000s, helping drive the international rise of French electronic music and developing artists who have become synonymous with the modern French music scene.
Winter described the move as a natural extension of that shared history, emphasizing collaboration and collective leadership as central to the partnership’s future. Because Music founder and CEO Emmanuel de Buretel echoed that sentiment, noting that Winter’s experience, artistic vision and entrepreneurial mindset will play an important role in the company’s next phase of growth.
Through Ed Banger Records, he helped launch and develop artists including Justice, SebastiAn, Breakbot, Uffie, DJ Mehdi and Myd. Winter is also widely known for managing Daft Punk during a pivotal period of the duo’s career, helping guide one of electronic music’s most influential acts from the late 1990s through the 2000s.
Beyond his work behind the scenes, Winter has maintained a visible presence as a performer under the DJ alias Busy P and remains closely associated with the French Touch movement that helped develop Paris into a global electronic music hub.
Since Because Music’s founding in 2004, the label has built a diverse roster spanning pop, electronic, hip-hop and alternative music, while also managing high-profile catalogs including those of Daft Punk and Justice.
