GYRO.Group has unveiled a new round of senior leadership appointments and promotions as the independent music company continues expanding its footprint across the Australian and international music industries.
The company, which operates brands including DistroDirect, G.Y.R.O., GROUP SPEED and Soothe Sounds, says the latest hires reflect a broader strategy centered on global growth and increased support for Australian artists. According to the announcement, GYRO.Group has now grown to more than 70 employees worldwide following a period of strong commercial momentum.
The company has already played a role in several major Australian releases this year, including five albums that reached the top of the ARIA charts. Among them was Keli Holiday’s breakout album Capital Fiction, which helped further elevate the company’s profile within the local music market.
Leading the newest appointments is Henry Compton, who joins the company as Head of APAC for DistroDirect. Compton brings more than 20 years of experience spanning marketing, business development and artist services across the music sector.
Before joining GYRO.Group, Compton held senior leadership roles at both The Orchard and FUGA, where he focused on business expansion, client acquisition and strategic growth throughout Australia and New Zealand.
In a statement accompanying the announcement, GYRO.Group CEO and co-founder Andy Irvine said the company is intensifying its efforts to help Australian artists reach international audiences. Irvine described global export growth as a central priority for the business, adding that future hiring, platform development and international expansion plans are all being shaped around that objective.
GYRO.Group Chief Commercial Officer Matthew Rogers also emphasized Compton’s experience building operations across the Asia-Pacific market, describing the appointment as a major step forward for DistroDirect’s regional ambitions.
The expansion arrives during a period of increasing competition among independent distribution and artist-services companies, many of which are racing to offer more global infrastructure and technology-focused support outside of the traditional major-label system.
