Guadalajara’s legendary Estadio 3 de Marzo is officially entering a new era as the Coliseo GNP Seguros, following a massive transformation aimed at turning the 55-year-old venue into a global entertainment powerhouse. The project, a strategic partnership between OCESA (a Live Nation subsidiary), GNP Seguros, and the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG), is set to reopen its doors this August with a focus on world-class fan experiences and high-tech production.
The renovation has expanded the venue’s capacity to 30,000 attendees, but the real upgrade lies in the infrastructure. A completely redesigned access system now flows into a vibrant entry lobby featuring a “food park,” beer gardens, and brand activation zones. Inside, the stadium’s footprint has been optimized with a new lightweight roof to protect fans from the elements, numbered seating for improved comfort, and continuous pathways designed for full accessibility. This isn’t just a facelift; it’s a total reimagining of how Jalisco experiences live music and sports.
To compete with leading global venues, the Coliseo GNP Seguros now features a reconfigured stage integrated directly into the stadium’s structure, maximizing field space and sightlines. The technical package includes a new perimeter LED ring and a digital screen system to enrich the in-stadium visuals. For artists, the venue has added professional-grade backstage offices and dressing rooms, designed to support the “high-demand” logistics of major international tours that have historically skipped the older facility.
The coliseum is wasting no time in establishing its dominance in the western Mexico circuit. The initial 2026 programming features some of the most influential names in the Latin market:
- Alejandro Sanz
- Yuridia
- Los Auténticos Decadentes, Los Caligaris, and Panteón Rococó (performing together for the first time)
By modernizing a site that once hosted icons like Lady Gaga, Roger Waters, and Shakira, OCESA and GNP Seguros are positioning Zapopan as a strategic hub that can finally compete with Mexico City’s recently renovated Estadio GNP Seguros (formerly Foro Sol).
