Antelope Audio has launched the Discrete 8 Oryx audio interface, calling it the “new heartbeat of your studio.” With 26 inputs, 38 outputs, and a redesigned preamp system, the Oryx gives producers and musicians a flexible, professional-grade hub for recording and mixing.
Vintage Preamps with Modern Flexibility
At its core, the Discrete 8 Oryx features eight ultra-low noise preamps. Each uses a six-transistor design inspired by vintage consoles. As a result, the unit delivers “detailed, transparent sound” that works with ribbon mics, vocals, or drums. Each preamp is DC-coupled and supports XLR and line-level TS/TRS connections. In addition, two front inputs switch to Hi-Z mode, letting guitarists and bassists plug in directly. The interface also includes four headphone outs, monitor outs, and Antelope’s virtual patch bay, which makes routing between analog and digital channels quick and intuitive.

The Oryx runs on Antelope’s latest AD/DA converters, which provide up to 130dB of headroom. Its fourth-generation 64-bit AFC clocking ensures “exceptional stereo width, depth and detail.” Moreover, producers can rely on the Synergy Core effects platform, which runs compressors, EQs, amps, and reverbs in real time with no perceptible latency. The unit ships with 37 effects, and users can expand their library through the Antelope Audio Software Store. Therefore, artists can offload CPU-heavy processing during tracking, mixing, or even live performance.
Streamlined Workflow
Antelope also added features that streamline daily studio work. For example, a talkback mic and footswitch controls improve communication and monitoring. Word Clock I/O keeps multiple digital devices locked in sync. In addition, the X-Feed headphone system recreates the feel of loudspeakers, giving headphone users a more natural stereo image. A bright color display and USB connectivity ensure smooth integration with both macOS and Windows systems.

The Discrete 8 Oryx arrives in November at $1,299 / €1,199. With its mix of vintage-inspired sound, modern effects, and flexible routing, Antelope Audio positions the Oryx as a central hub for today’s studios. Ultimately, it offers producers and musicians a rare balance of precision, power, and creativity — all in one streamlined interface.
