Tickets for the groove band from Chihuahua start at 300 pesos. And no, despite what you may have read, it isn’t a metal show.
If you saw the announcement for The Soulcasters’ Mexico City show and pictured headbanging, dragons and a wall of distortion, you’re not alone. You would also be at the wrong gig.
What you’d actually walk into is something warmer and far more human: 1970s soul, deep funk, blues, and the golden glow of analog tape. No emulations. No shortcuts. Just groove, grit, and old-school authenticity. That’s the kind of atmosphere you don’t just hear – you pleasantly sink into it.

The Soulcasters, a groove band from Chihuahua in northern Mexico, will play House of Vans in Mexico City on Dec. 4. Tickets are on sale now through Fever and at the box office of Tienda Foro Indie Rocks! at Zacatecas 43 in Roma Norte, open Wednesday through Sunday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. General admission costs 300 pesos, and a meet-and-greet package with entry costs 600.
The confusion starts with the announcement itself. The Mexican outlet Indie Rocks! opened its listing by promising a heavy metal show full of groove, big riffs and touches of fantasy, then, one paragraph later, described a band steeped in 1970s soul. The second description is the right one. On their own Bandcamp page, The Soulcasters describe their sound as raw ’70s soul mixed with deep funk, blues and analog warmth. They record everything straight to tape, with no digital emulation and no shortcuts. The heavy metal and fantasy description fits a different band altogether: Soulcaster, singular, a fantasy-themed heavy metal project from Belgium. One letter, two very different evenings.

So expect something closer to vintage soul revival than to anything with dragons on the cover. So far the band has released a run of singles, including “Footprints,” “Control,” “She’s Not the Same” and “She Stole My Records,” plus collaborations with Midnight Generation on “I See You” and with Soultade on “Tired.” According to their Bandcamp page, a debut album was planned for early 2026. On Instagram, where they sum themselves up as a “Groove Band from Mexico,” they have about 20,000 followers.
