Bravado has secured a court order allowing authorities to seize counterfeit merchandise being sold outside stops on A$AP Rocky’s Don’t Be Dumb World Tour.
The order, issued by a federal judge in Texas, temporarily authorizes law enforcement and Bravado representatives to confiscate unauthorized merchandise sold within a three-mile radius of tour venues. The initial ruling covered the rapper’s Houston performance and will remain in place until a hearing determines whether broader protections should extend across the remainder of the tour.
Bravado, the merchandise and brand management arm of Universal Music Group, alleges it holds the exclusive rights to produce and sell official A$AP Rocky tour merchandise under an agreement with the artist. The lawsuit targets unidentified individuals and businesses accused of selling unauthorized apparel featuring the rapper’s trademarks.
According to the complaint, the alleged counterfeit products, including T-shirts, jerseys and hats, closely resemble official tour merchandise and could mislead fans into believing they are purchasing licensed products. Bravado also argues that the goods are of lower quality and deprive both the company and the artist of legitimate merchandise revenue.
The lawsuit alleges trademark infringement and false designation of origin under the Lanham Act. In addition to requesting the destruction of counterfeit goods, Bravado is seeking damages that will be determined through the legal process.
The case reflects a broader industry trend as music companies increasingly pursue legal action against unauthorized vendors. In recent months, HYBE filed a similar complaint ahead of BTS’s U.S. tour dates, while Ceremony of Roses obtained comparable court orders targeting counterfeit sellers at concerts by Benson Boone and Dua Lipa.
The growing number of lawsuits underscores the increasing importance of merchandise sales within the live music business. As touring continues to generate significant demand for apparel and collectibles, official merchandise has become an increasingly valuable revenue stream for artists and their business partners.
