Coran Capshaw, founder of Red Light Management, will be recognized with the Lifetime Music Industry Award at the T.J. Martell Foundation’s 51st annual New York Honors Gala this September.
The event is scheduled to take place Sept. 15 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City and serves as the foundation’s flagship fundraising gala supporting cancer research and medical initiatives.
Over the course of his career, Capshaw has become one of the most influential figures in artist management, building Red Light Management into the world’s largest independent management company. In addition to overseeing the broader organization, he personally manages major acts including Dave Matthews Band, Phish, Chris Stapleton and The Strokes.
Capshaw has also played a major role in shaping the live music business beyond artist management, helping develop influential music festivals and venues throughout the United States. His impact on touring and live entertainment has earned him repeated recognition across the industry, including frequent appearances on Billboard’s annual Power 100 list.
Earlier this year, Capshaw received the Personal Manager of the Year honor at the Pollstar Awards. He has also previously been recognized with the Spirit of Life Award from City of Hope and became the first artist manager to receive the Humanitarian Award at the Billboard Touring Awards in 2011.
In announcing the honor, T.J. Martell Foundation board chairman Steve Gawley praised Capshaw’s longstanding philanthropic efforts and his commitment to mobilizing artists and industry leaders in support of charitable causes.
Capshaw said he was honored to support the foundation’s work and emphasized that philanthropy has remained a core priority throughout his music career.
This year’s gala will also feature live performances and celebrity appearances, with additional details expected to be announced closer to the event. The red carpet portion of the evening is being sponsored by Live Nation.
