Los Angeles, California (July 14, 2025)- British alt-rock icon YUNGBLUD is stepping into the spotlight like never before with the global release of his new documentary YUNGBLUD. ARE YOU READY, BOY?, premiering in cinemas worldwide on August 20 and 24 via Trafalgar Releasing. Tickets will be available starting July 17 at Yungblud.film, where fans can also sign up for exclusive updates.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Paul Dugdale — a three-time Grammy nominee and Emmy® and BAFTA winner known for capturing iconic performances from artists like Adele, Elton John, and The Prodigy — this feature-length documentary is set in the legendary Hansa Studios in Berlin. Known as the birthplace of historic albums like David Bowie’s Heroes and U2’s Achtung Baby!, Hansa becomes both backdrop and character in a raw, visually striking portrait of a generational artist at a crossroads.
Blending black-and-white footage, full-color sequences, and evocative 16mm film, ARE YOU READY, BOY? offers an unfiltered and deeply intimate look at YUNGBLUD during one of the most transformative periods of his career. The film captures the making of Idols, his most personal album to date, which debuted in June 2025 to critical acclaim and marked his third consecutive #1 on the UK Albums Chart.
Filmed without an audience and stripped of spectacle, the documentary peels back the curtain on YUNGBLUD’s creative process as he and his band record live performances of 12 new tracks from Idols for the first time. The result is an electrifying and vulnerable piece of cinema that explores identity, legacy, and the chaos of becoming.
“I wanted to make a film that truly documented where we are right now, at this moment, around the release of the most ambitious album I’ve ever made,” said YUNGBLUD. “Berlin has always radiated this raw, unfiltered truth. Every time I’ve walked into Hansa, it feels fing iconic. You feel the history between takes, in the silence, in the shadows of the legends who came before you. And you start asking: who the f am I, and what am I going to leave behind?”
Dugdale echoed the sentiment, calling the film a rare chance to witness an artist in that fragile but potent space between creation and public release. “We captured something truly honest before the world could project anything onto it. That’s a privilege,” he said. “Dom gave everything to this film.”
The documentary also serves as a love letter to Berlin’s legacy of counterculture and creative defiance — values that resonate deeply with YUNGBLUD’s vision. Through ARE YOU READY, BOY?, he expands his artistry beyond music, continuing a year marked by boundary-pushing projects like his debut festival Bludfest and his first book You Need to Exist: A Book to Love and Destroy, published by Penguin Books.
The film is produced by B.R.A.T Productions (YUNGBLUD’s own creative studio), Aldgate Pictures, and distributed globally by Trafalgar Releasing, the company behind record-smashing event films from Taylor Swift, BTS, Billie Eilish, and more. With screenings scheduled in 30 countries, including 150 theaters in the UK alone, YUNGBLUD. ARE YOU READY, BOY? is poised to become one of the most talked-about music documentaries of the year.
As YUNGBLUD continues to redefine what it means to be a rock star in the 21st century, this film captures the heart, chaos, and conviction of an artist who refuses to fit the mold — and who invites the world to join him as he tears it down.
