Universal Music Group’s catalog division, Universal Music Enterprises, has named Bruce Resnikoff as Chairman, while Jamie Krents steps into the role of President and CEO, expanding his responsibilities beyond his current leadership of UMG’s Verve Label Group.
Resnikoff, who has spent over four decades shaping the music industry, is widely recognized as a pioneer in catalog marketing. Since founding UMe in 1998 following the PolyGram-Universal merger, he has set the standard for how recordings are promoted and monetized. In his new role, Resnikoff will focus on growing UMe’s portfolio through estate management, acquiring rights to recordings, audiovisual content, and the use of artists’ likenesses, while continuing to advise UMG artists with whom he has a long-standing rapport.
Krents, a professional bassist and longtime UMG executive, has led Verve through a string of high-profile campaigns and Grammy-winning projects. Under his leadership, Verve has celebrated landmark achievements, including Jon Batiste’s multi-Grammy run and Samara Joy’s Best New Artist win. In addition to overseeing UMe’s catalog, Krents will head campaigns leveraging digital platforms and direct-to-fan engagement strategies.
UMG Chairman and CEO Sir Lucian Grainge praised the promotions, noting the duo’s strong partnership and shared commitment to artists. “Bruce is a brilliant executive who defined the modern catalog business, always evolving new ways of championing iconic recordings and the world’s most influential artists.”
Resnikoff emphasized the responsibility of curating and amplifying UMe’s roster. “I’m excited to continue pushing UMe forward, working alongside Jamie to develop fresh ways to grow our artists’ careers, fanbases, and legacies.” Krents added, “I’m honored to take on this expanded role, working with Bruce and building on his leadership and vision, as we continue to invest in timeless talent and develop new initiatives to help our artists deliver lasting cultural and commercial impact.”
Both executives have a strong track record of innovation. Resnikoff previously founded Hip-O Records, launched UMe, and produced documentaries and live productions highlighting music legends, while Krents has spent his entire career at UMG, shaping Verve’s award-winning roster. Together, they aim to push the boundaries of catalog management and artist engagement, ensuring that music spanning decades continues to thrive globally.
