Los Angeles, California (April 29, 2025)- On May 15, 2025, Harlem street dance will take its rightful place in the spotlight as Works & Process and the Jerome Robbins Dance Division of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts present Lite Feet with Chrybaby Cozie. Held at the Library’s Bruno Walter Auditorium, this free event offers more than a performance—it’s a cultural reckoning, a live history lesson, and a celebration of one of New York City’s most electrifying dance traditions.
Lite Feet, the quick-footed, high-energy dance style that pulsed out of Harlem and the Bronx in the early 2000s, is more than just a series of viral moves—it’s a language of resilience, innovation, and raw expression. Born from the rich legacy of Hip-Hop and rooted deeply in Black and Latinx youth culture, Lite Feet has evolved into a movement that encompasses not just the dance itself, but the lifestyle, community, and creative spirit it embodies.
Daniel “Chrybaby Cozie” Holloway, a Harlem native and one of the architects of the Lite Feet movement, leads the evening’s program. As both performer and historian, Cozie offers a firsthand account of how the genre was born, how it spread, and how it continues to thrive. The night will also feature performances by Bomb Squad, a new generation of dancers mentored by Cozie, who bring the fire of the streets to the stage with signature Lite Feet routines that defy gravity and pulse with originality.
But Cozie’s role extends far beyond performance. He has worked alongside chart-topping artists like Chris Brown, ASAP Ferg, and Ron Browz, and his choreography has lit up stages from the Apollo Theater to the Bad Boy Reunion Tour. Offstage, he’s equally impactful. Through initiatives like Lite Feet Nation and The Breakfast Club E.A.T., and as Program Manager for Creative Netwerk, Cozie has made it his mission to uplift youth through dance, mentorship, and education. His mantra, “Level Up Amongst The Greatest,” speaks not just to excellence in movement but to a philosophy of empowerment and purpose.
The event marks yet another chapter in Works & Process’s visionary approach to performance and process. With support from organizations including the Ford Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, Works & Process champions artists at every stage, providing platforms that blend creative exploration, public engagement, and cultural preservation. Their programs, often fusing conversation and performance, push the boundaries of how we think about the performing arts.
Meanwhile, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts continues to be a vanguard institution for the preservation and celebration of performance. As it marks its 60th anniversary this year, the Library reaffirms its mission to amplify diverse voices and serve as an incubator for creative thought. Housing more than eight million items spanning music, dance, theater, and sound, it stands as a cultural cornerstone for artists and audiences alike.
Lite Feet with Chrybaby Cozie is more than a night of dance—it’s a homecoming for a culture that was born in the streets but belongs on every stage. It’s an invitation to honor the past, witness the present, and imagine the future of a movement that refuses to stay still.
