Robert Baxter releases a new anthem for queer joy and resilience, his latest single ‘I<3GIRLS’ (pronounced as ‘I love girls.’) The song plunges into a lively pop celebration, for once featuring those that are typically left out of certain conversations.
‘I<3GIRLS’ is meant to be a love letter to the women in Baxter’s life. “I wrote ‘I<3GIRLS’ because there’s this gross energy of people creating queer spaces and trying to leave out the girls,” Baxter explained. “This song is for them, the girls who got me through high school, the t-girls, the lesbians.”
‘I<3GIRLS’ was handcrafted specifically for the dance floor– laced with heavy bass notes, thumping and pounding club drums, and Baxter’s signature voice.
The song set’s Baxter’s reputation in stone as a courageous storyteller and an unapologetic pusher of boundaries. It is an anthem meant for the girls, by a sincere ally with a powerful voice to tell it the way it needs to be told.
