Los Angeles, California (August 8, 2025)- Rafael Hernandez has announced his candidacy for California Governor in the 2026 election, campaigning on a platform focused on creating a “better, safe and prosperous” state.
Hernandez, who was raised by his farmer grandparents, credits his grandfather’s hard work for providing him with an education that allowed him to become an accountant. He brings to the campaign over 35 years of experience in the retail business, where he worked as a Manager and General Manager. A family man, Hernandez is married to Sonia and together they have four children and four grandchildren. He is also a book author and songwriter.
Central to his campaign are several key policy goals. He aims to create more jobs, build affordable homes and tiny homes for those in need, and make college education more affordable. He also proposes to increase the number of mental health institutions to aid the homeless and to prioritize making cities safer.
In his appeal to voters, Hernandez emphasizes his commitment to transparency and integrity. He has proposed that all candidates, including himself, undergo a background check. He also advocates for a system where the winning candidate must declare all assets and investments, both in the U.S. and abroad, at the beginning and end of their term. His vision is for a government that works “by and for all Californians and not for the few.”
With a campaign message centered on listening to the people and taking action to resolve problems, Hernandez seeks to be a leader Californians can trust. He calls on voters to join him in making a change for the state and for future generations. The primary election is scheduled for June 2, 2026.
