British audiophile brand Quad has expanded its new Platina Series with the launch of the Platina Stream. The network audio player follows the Platina Integrated amplifier, which debuted earlier this week. It marks the company’s first high-end streamer and signals a bold step in its digital strategy.

Completing the Lineup
The Platina Stream is the second of three planned components in the Platina Series. A CD transport will arrive in 2026, completing the lineup. Like the amplifier, the Stream features a minimalist design with anti-resonance feet, a rotary dial, and a 4.3-inch color display. Although listeners can pair it with any amplifier, Quad encourages them to combine it with the Platina Integrated for the most cohesive system.
From a technical standpoint, the Platina Stream delivers serious performance. It uses an ES9038PRO 8‑channel, 32‑bit DAC with dual master clocks, which ensures precise digital-to-analog conversion. The unit supports ultra‑high‑resolution audio up to 32‑bit/768kHz PCM and native DSD512. In addition, a quad‑core Cortex‑A53 processor powers the system, while a Class A active filter reduces noise and distortion. The design routes the signal directly to the XLR outputs, giving listeners a clean and transparent path.
Streaming Without Limits
Furthermore, the Stream offers broad compatibility with today’s most popular services. It supports Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, and Spotify Lossless, giving users access to both mainstream and high-resolution platforms. It also integrates with Roon through Roon Advanced Audio Transport, appealing to collectors who want seamless library management. Moreover, built‑in Plex, UPnP, and AirPlay 2 expand flexibility. As Quad explains, “every significant Hi‑Res and lossless audio format is catered for,” including FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, and native DSD.
The Platina Stream will reach the market in November 2025 for £2,999 (about $3,997 / €3,437 / AU$6,144). With its premium DAC, wide streaming support, and sleek design, it offers a compelling option for serious listeners. Ultimately, the Stream shows how Quad blends tradition with innovation, giving audiophiles a modern tool that reflects the company’s heritage. For anyone seeking the highest quality digital playback, this release deserves close attention.
