Los Angeles, California (May 14, 2025)- Monalisa, a band formed by five musicians with strong international careers, makes its official debut with a vibrant and emotional rendition of “Es Por Amor,” the classic hit by Argentine rock group G.I.T. Far from being a traditional cover, this reinterpretation is built on a powerful concept: the story has never been told from a woman’s perspective. That simple shift completely transforms the meaning of the lyrics, giving the song new emotional depth and strength.
Choosing “Es Por Amor” as their first release was no coincidence. The song captures the essence of Monalisa’s sound, showcasing their ability to blend powerful musicianship with emotional storytelling. In this version, every instrument has space to shine—from an iconic and driving bass line, to powerful drums, immersive keyboards, and a raw, heartfelt vocal performance. This track serves as a perfect introduction to who Monalisa is: a band that sounds like a band, with a collective identity where each member’s contribution is as strong as the whole.
According to guitarist and producer Javier Calderón, “When we heard that line, ‘hay una fiesta y es esta noche’ (‘there’s a party and it’s tonight’), we felt it was a sign. Sonically, the track echoes the energy of ‘80s rock, but also includes modern and even pop elements. That’s who we are: a band that embraces different eras. There is production and some programming involved, but the real band sound is what matters most in this debut.”
With this release, Monalisa begins a journey of reimagining songs that have defined generations, interpreting them through their unique artistic lens. “Es Por Amor” is only the first step in a project that invites listeners to rediscover familiar songs with fresh ears and deeper emotion.
The single is now available on all major digital platforms.
Monalisa’s lineup includes guitarist and producer Javier Calderón, a platinum-selling composer and one of the most recorded guitarists in Latin music. He’s worked with artists like Ángela Aguilar, Yuridia, Espinoza Paz, and Aleks Syntek, and has earned accolades including the Diosa de Plata for Best Film Song and a Latin Grammy nomination in 2022. Lead vocalist Vale Cox is a Chilean singer and actress who has been part of the Mexican music scene for over 17 years. Her experience includes work with Playa Limbo, Ximena Sariñana, and Aleks Syntek, bringing emotional depth and authenticity to Monalisa’s sound.
Drummer Ivette Gómez, originally from Guadalajara, has toured nationally and internationally with acts like Belanova, Danna Paola, Moenia, and Aleks Syntek. She brings precision and power to the band’s rhythm section. Bassist Génesis Cadetti, from Villahermosa, Tabasco, started in youth orchestras and has since performed with artists including Magneto, Kabah, and Pedro Capó. Her melodic and driving bass lines are a core element of the band’s identity. Rounding out the group is Fernando Laura, an Argentine composer and producer who has written for Cristian Castro, Paty Cantú, and Kalimba, among others. His classical training and broad musical background give Monalisa its harmonic richness and versatility.
Monalisa is not just a new band—it’s a bold musical project that reclaims classic songs with new purpose and personality. Their debut invites listeners not only to remember, but to feel something entirely new.
