Milagro Gramz, a celebrity gossip blogger, was held liable by a jury for defaming Megan Thee Stallion and reposting a deepfake pornographic video after the shooting with Tory Lanez.
As reviewed by Billboard, on Monday, December 1st, a federal jury in Miami determined in a verdict that Milagro Gramz had harmed Megan with her social media escapades and awarded $75,000 in damages. Megan’s representatives have declined to comment on the verdict. The lawyers for Lanez and Gramz did not return requests for comment right away.
During the weeklong trial, Megan’s lawyers argued that Gramz had acted as Lanez’s “mouthpiece” to escalate misinformation and had attempted to sink her reputation. Lanez is currently serving a ten-year prison sentence, convicted in 2022 for shooting Megan in the foot during a drunken conflict after attending a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s house in the Hollywood Hills.
Gramz, an avid Lanez supporter, has used her social media account for years to share her doubt on Megan’s account following the shooting. Many of Gramz’s posts are claimed to be false, including one such claim that Lanez’s gun “went missing.” Megan’s lawsuit against Gramz also accused the loyal Lanez supporter of violating a Florida law against “altered sexual depictions” by pushing her followers to watch the deepfake pornographic video of Megan.
Gramz has denied that she had been paid by Lanez and stated that her social media posts were protected by the First Amendment in the form of journalism. On Monday, jurors determined that Gramz does in fact have social media credentials, spurring up further post-trial litigation based on whether the defamation trial can remain.
Lanez did not appear as a witness nor as a defendant in the trial, and was supposed to give his own videotaped deposition from prison, but there were claims that he was uncooperative with repeated questioning from Megan’s lawyers.
