Los Angeles, California (July 17, 2025)- From the heart of San Pedro de las Colonias, Coahuila, a new generation of regional Mexican talent is making waves with youthful energy, heartfelt stories, and a deep respect for tradition. They’re called Curanderos—young musicians who use their art like a remedy, delivering musical medicine for the soul.
Backed by Alemán Music, the label known for cultivating some of the most innovative sounds in regional music, Curanderos aren’t just another norteño group—they are being hailed as “Los que cantan en grande” and “Los pequeños gigantes de la música norteña” (“those who sing big” and “the little giants of norteño music”). Despite their young age, these rising stars carry the weight of the genre with surprising maturity and emotional depth.
The lineup includes:
Cowith García – Lead vocals
Matusalém García – Accordion
Dereck Ortiz – Bajo sexto & second voice
José Carlos Torres – Bass
All under the guidance of producer and visionary Raúl Alemán, the boys of Curanderos are reviving and refreshing the norteño tradition. Alemán shared that although the group is new, their music is already resonating across various regions. Their debut single, “El Odio de Dos Hermanos,” has been picking up momentum on YouTube for its raw, emotional storytelling, while their latest release, a norteño version of Juan Gabriel’s “Quédate Conmigo Esta Noche,” showcases their range and ability to honor classics with a fresh twist.
These aren’t just talented kids—they have real stories. The lead vocalist, just 16 years old, is the son of a seasoned regional musician and brings a vocal maturity well beyond his years. Dereck Ortiz, their bajo sexto player, is only 13, yet already commands the stage with confidence. Together, their presence is magnetic, their sound both nostalgic and new.
“We saw something mystical in them,” Alemán explains. “They come from tough backgrounds, but they carry a healing energy. With their music, they soothe wounds and lift spirits.”
As they launch their social media presence and grow their fanbase, Curanderos are proving they’re more than a novelty—they’re a movement. With strong early numbers online and a loyal following already forming, it’s clear that their music is touching people in the same way a good curandero would—with care, passion, and purpose.
So if you’re looking for a cure to loneliness, a balm for heartbreak, or just something genuine and new in norteño music—Curanderos have the remedy.
Follow them, because they are Curanderos—young, talented, and healing hearts one song at a time.
