Los Angeles, California (June 11, 2025)- 2025 is shaping up to be a defining year for GRAMMY®-winning Icelandic-Chinese artist Laufey, whose genre-defying fusion of jazz, classical, and pop continues to charm audiences across generations. Fresh off announcing her highly anticipated third studio album A Matter of Time, set for release on August 22, Laufey has unveiled plans for her largest North American tour to date in partnership with AEG Presents. Aptly titled “A Matter of Time Tour,” the string of arena dates kicks off in September and promises to transport fans deeper into the cinematic soundscape known as “Laufey Land.”
The announcement follows the release of the album’s first single, “Tough Luck,” a poignant, strings-laced composition that Laufey recently debuted live on Jimmy Kimmel Live! With its orchestral grandeur and lyrical candor, the track offers a striking glimpse into the emotional terrain Laufey intends to explore on A Matter of Time. The tour will feature support from alt-pop darling Suki Waterhouse, known for her evocative albums Memoir of a Sparklemuffin and I Can’t Let Go, creating a lineup that balances elegance, intimacy, and innovation.
The tour is poised to become a career milestone for Laufey. Stops include iconic venues like Madison Square Garden in New York City, Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, and Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. In total, Laufey will grace more than two dozen major cities, signaling not only her musical evolution but her growing cultural influence.
To deepen her impact beyond the stage, Laufey recently introduced The Laufey Foundation. With a focus on youth orchestras and musical education, the foundation will provide essential resources to support the next generation of musicians. In a gesture that blends philanthropy with performance, $1 from every ticket sold during the tour will be donated to this initiative, further solidifying Laufey’s role as a changemaker within the industry.
Musically, A Matter of Time sees Laufey stepping further into her creative freedom. Having built her previous albums around intimate coming-of-age reflections and whimsical tales of young love, this latest effort embraces vulnerability with bold honesty. Laufey worked closely with longtime collaborator Spencer Stewart as well as first-time co-producer Aaron Dessner, known for his genre-spanning work with Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. The album is expected to broaden Laufey’s sonic palette while staying rooted in the timeless textures of jazz and classical, genres she reveres deeply. “I just wanted to let my heart wander,” she says of the recording process. “People expect a pretty façade… but this time, I was interested in seeing how I could draw out the most flawed parts of myself.”
A classically trained musician raised between Reykjavík and Washington, D.C., Laufey began her ascent with the 2021 EP Typical of Me, whose breakout single “Street by Street” made her a household name in her home country. Since then, her trajectory has been meteoric: 5 billion global streams, a GRAMMY® win for Bewitched, the most-streamed jazz album debut in Spotify history, and historic sold-out shows at the Hollywood Bowl and Royal Albert Hall. She has performed alongside the LA Philharmonic and National Symphony Orchestra, collaborated with Norah Jones and Beabadoobee, and even earned a place on TIME’s 2025 Women of the Year list and Forbes 30 Under 30.
With A Matter of Time Laufey aims to stretch the emotional range of her work further than ever before. It is a body of music that reckons with real love — romantic, platonic, and self-directed — in all its imperfect, anxiety-laced complexity. From lush orchestrations to stripped-down confessions, the album is designed to hold space for the multidimensional reality of being young, gifted, and emotionally awake.
Fans eager to witness this new era live can access presale tickets and VIP packages starting Tuesday, June 3 at 10 a.m. local time. General onsale begins Friday, June 6 at 10 a.m. local time via amatteroftimetour.com.
