Los Angeles, California (July 7, 2025)- The Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC), widely hailed as the “Sundance of Latin music,” has announced its 2025 Discovery Award recipients, spotlighting three groundbreaking acts poised to shape the future of the genre: Luz Gaggi, Planta Industrial, and Silvestre y La Naranja. With a history of recognizing talent early, LAMC continues its tradition of championing artists who blend authenticity, innovation, and cultural relevance.
Joining a prestigious alumni list that includes Nathy Peluso, Carla Morrison, iLe, Buscabulla, and Dawer x Damper, this year’s winners represent a vibrant cross-section of Latin America’s musical evolution. As part of the award, each artist will receive special recognition and prizes from Taylor Guitars and Fender—industry leaders in honoring musical craftsmanship.
From Argentina, Luz Gaggi stands out for her emotive vocals and genre-bending artistry. First capturing national attention as a finalist on La Voz Argentina in 2021, she has since carved a distinct space with her 2023 debut album Altar, which earned two Gardel Award nominations. Her rising star status was cemented in 2024 when she opened for Paul McCartney in Buenos Aires and was officially named a “Distinguished Personality” of her hometown, La Plata. Most recently, she’s been making waves with her single VALENTINO, showcasing a bold and experimental edge.
Planta Industrial, a Bronx-based duo made up of Dominican artists Saso and Aka The Darknight, delivers a sound as raw as it is revolutionary. Seamlessly fusing post-punk, dark wave, rap, pop, and electronic textures, their music pulses with Afro-Caribbean energy and urban grit. Their fearless experimentation is making a lasting impression in New York’s underground scene, offering a dark and unfiltered take on Latin identity in the U.S. Their inclusion as Discovery Award recipients affirms the LAMC’s commitment to boundary-pushing artistry.
Rounding out the trio is Silvestre y La Naranja, one of Latin America’s most exciting indie acts. Known for blending indie rock with rich layers of soul and pop, the band has earned critical acclaim through albums like ANIM4LES, SUPERSTICIONES, and SUEÑO CÍTRICO. Their live performances, marked by sold-out shows and international tours, reflect a band whose sound resonates deeply with a growing global audience. Their nomination underscores their place at the forefront of Latin alternative music’s new wave.
The LAMC Discovery Award has long served as a barometer of future stars in the Latin music world. This year’s honorees are no exception, embodying the diversity, artistry, and spirit that continue to redefine what Latin music sounds like today.
As the industry takes note, fans around the world can expect to hear much more from Luz Gaggi, Planta Industrial, and Silvestre y La Naranja—artists who are not only making music, but shaping the sound of a generation.
