Los Angeles, California (May 7, 2025)- Country music royalty is joining forces for a powerful, emotional debut. Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, and Reba McEntire will unveil their heartfelt ballad Trailblazer live at the ACM Awards on May 8. The mid-tempo track — an ode to those who came before and those who will follow — will hit streaming platforms the same evening at 8 p.m. ET.
Written by Lambert and Wilson alongside songwriter Brandy Clark on Lambert’s back porch, Trailblazer was crafted with McEntire’s voice and legacy in mind. “We were calling her on set trying to figure out, ‘What’s the right message for this trio?’” Lambert recalls.
The result is a poignant tribute to the lineage of country music, complete with references to legends like Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, and Tammy Wynette. The song also pays subtle homage to each artist — “Kerosene” nods to Lambert’s breakout hit, while lyrics about Louisiana and Oklahoma point to Wilson’s and McEntire’s roots, respectively.
The track balances reverence with relatability. “It’s not just about the history of country music,” Wilson says. “It’s about generations. We wanted it to be something a grandmother, daughter, and granddaughter could all feel.”
For McEntire, the song hit an emotional nerve immediately. “I couldn’t find a flaw in it, not a word,” she says of her first listen. “I was very emotional when I heard it.” The trio recorded the song together in Nashville with McEntire’s longtime collaborator Tony Brown.
But Trailblazer is more than a song — it’s a declaration of solidarity and mentorship in a genre often known for its competitiveness. “We’ve got that camaraderie,” McEntire emphasizes. “We help each other. There’s enough room in this business for everybody to be successful.”
Their friendship extends offstage as well. The trio admits to an ongoing group text filled with jokes and mutual support. “Sometimes you need someone to talk to when you’re so exhausted,” Wilson says. “And you know someone in that group will understand.” Lambert adds, “It’s about what the song means to little girls out there watching — or anyone who has a dream.”
And this collaboration is far from a one-time event. “No, ma’am,” McEntire says when asked if Trailblazer might be their last project together. “I love singing with these gals. They’re a lot of fun. Why not do more?”
Tune into Amazon Prime Video on May 8 at 8:00 p.m. ET to watch this powerhouse trio debut Trailblazer at the ACM Awards — a song destined to resonate across generations of country fans.
