Extending The Acclaimed Album
On September 11, Kali Uchis released her newest single, “Cry About It!” featuring an appearance from Ravyn Lenae. The track teases the upcoming deluxe of her latest album, “Sincerely: P.S.,” which is set to release on September 26.
After Weeks of Hype
Kali Uchis releases the deluxe amidst the successful tour for the original “Sincerely” album, which saw two consecutive sold-out shows in Los Angeles and features from Peso Pluma, SZA, and Steve Lacy. Her most recent performance took place in Madison Square Garden, New York, with another one taking place at the same venue on September 12. As for the pair’s single, besides its first full appearance on The Tonight Show, Kali Uchis had performed it live during some California shows, with fans who had already memorized what lyrics they could from the teaser promos singing along as they awaited its official release.
Carrying Complex Themes
The excitement over the extension of the bilingual “Sincerely” album is no surprise; it released to critical acclaim and hopped to the second-most popular album on Billboard charts, with Kali Uchis, newly a mother, exploring themes of interiority, pain, and love. “Cry About It!” serves as an interesting tonal twist on the album, blending the rest of the tracks’ sincerity with a unique sarcasm, but keeping a dreamy sound thanks to rising R&B star Ravyn Lenae’s experimental contributions.
