Los Angeles, California (May 12, 2025)- Peruvian singer-songwriter Johnny Lau is back with his most heartfelt project to date. His third studio album, +Yo Que Nunca, is set for release on May 9, and promises to be a soul-stirring tribute to love, self-discovery, and the R&B roots that define his signature sound.
Described as the most important chapter in his musical journey so far, +Yo Que Nunca represents a deeply personal reunion for Johnny — a moment of reflection, growth, and artistic evolution. “Finding myself through these new songs has been healing and liberating. The years have molded me and matured my sound,” he shares. “I’m grateful to the amazing team behind this album — I truly feel +Yo Que Nunca.”
Rooted in his love for soul and R&B, genres that have consistently shaped his musical identity, the album also draws on the creative energy of the collaborators around him. It’s an emotionally rich and stylistically refined body of work that reflects both the vulnerability and strength Johnny has gained through his personal and professional experiences.
The record will arrive alongside the release of its third single, “Roto,” following the earlier singles “De Tu Boca” and “En un Millón,” the latter of which dropped on March 29. The first single holds a particularly special place in Johnny’s heart, as it was recorded in collaboration with Noel Schajris of Sin Bandera — a guiding force behind the album’s production and Johnny’s career at large. “I’ll always proudly share with the world that we recorded the first single ‘De Tu Boca’ together, and that Noel wisely guided the creation of this very special album,” he says.
Now signed to Dynamo Productions, the Los Angeles-based label helmed by Schajris, Johnny is thriving in an environment where his artistic voice has space to evolve. His talent was instantly recognized by Schajris, who offered him both a creative home and a platform to connect with listeners on a deeper level.
The album’s release follows an impressive run of eight sold-out tour dates across Peru and Mexico — two places that Johnny holds close. “With all my love to my people, to those who dream through my dreams, to my homeland Peru and my beloved Mexico,” he wrote, honoring the fans who have supported him throughout his journey.
Born in Lima, Peru on December 17, 1993, Johnny Lau has spent the past decade steadily carving out a place for himself in the Latin music scene. With early victories in major talent competitions like Vidas Extremas and Rojo Fama Contrafama Perú, he gained national attention, eventually signing with Sony Music in 2016. His debut album featured collaborations with renowned Mexican songwriters such as Bruno Danzza and Fernando Laura. His sophomore effort, Protagonista, further emphasized his passion for R&B and helped secure performances on some of the biggest festival stages in Peru.
Along the way, he’s shared the stage with some of Latin music’s most iconic acts, including Sin Bandera, Camila, Matisse, Axel, Mike Bahía, Alex Cuba, and Kalimba. In the studio, he’s worked with heavy-hitters like Alain Pérez, David Bisbal, and again, Alex Cuba. Today, in addition to being an exclusive songwriter for Sony Music Publishing México, Johnny continues to hone his craft as part of Dynamo Productions’ creative family.
