The dynamic Latin pop scene has a new star on the rise: Jero y yo. The young Colombian singer-songwriter, Jero, is reinforcing his position as a pop promise with the release of his third single, “Al Frente De Mí” (also known as “In Front of Me”), an important track that sets the stage for his much-anticipated debut album, slated for release next year by Universal Music. The track, which follows previous releases like “Entre Tus Manos,” is an intimate journey into the emotions of love, built around a fresh yet profound melody.
A Powerful Collaboration and a Nostalgic Sound
“Al Frente De Mí” stands out not only for its lyrical depth but also for a powerful collaboration. The single features the vibrant voice of Mexican-Brazilian artist Nicoletta Spinelli, who brings a crucial feminine energy to the song’s narrative. Jero explained the collaboration, noting he felt something was missing from the initial version until he heard her voice. “I feel very fortunate that she agreed to participate because when I heard her part on the recording, the story clicked completely,” he stated. He added, regarding the song’s personal significance, “I think this is my favorite song on the album. It has something special: it feels fresh, but also very deep.”
Musically, the single creates a captivating sound that harks back to the indie rock aesthetic of the early 2000s. Jero credits his unique sound to diverse influences: “I’m a son of metal, but also of Harry Styles.” This blend results in a composition that retains “the natural energy of rock, albeit with a softer, more intimate feel.” The accompanying music video was brought to life in Medellín, Colombia, with Nicoletta traveling there for the recording.
Colombian Pride Meets Mexican Soil
This new musical chapter is also marked by Jero’s growing presence in Mexico. In November, he is set to achieve a long-held ambition: opening for the Colombian band Margarita Siempre Viva during their performances in Guadalajara and Monterrey. Jero expressed his excitement, confessing, “It’s a dream come true, because I’ve been listening to them since I was very young. Sharing the stage with them in Mexico is very meaningful, as this new chapter of my life is marked by both Mexican soil and my Colombian homeland.”
“Al Frente De Mí” effectively closes the first chapter in the story of the Jero y yo project. With the debut album on the horizon for next year, and the promise of more music in the first part of 2026, the Colombian artist is quickly becoming a name to watch. If you want to be part of Jero y yo’s universe, listen to “Al Frente De Mí,” now available on all platforms.
