Los Angeles, California (August 19, 2025)- Grammy-nominated country artist Jason Aldean’s Full Throttle Tour made a sold-out stop in Houston, TX, on Friday, August 15, but not before a very special pre-show event. Before taking the stage at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, Aldean met with Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, members of the Houston Astros, and families from the Texas-based non-profit Heroes for Children. The day included a game of mini-golf at Puttshack and baseball fun.
During the event, Aldean, in partnership with tour sponsor Patriot Mobile, surprised Heroes for Children with a check for a remarkable $200,000. He expressed his gratitude to the organization for their work and to DJ for bringing awareness to their mission.
The collaboration was sparked earlier this year when 13-year-old DJ Daniel, who is battling a rare form of brain and spinal cancer, posted a video plea. “Hey, does anybody know Jason Aldean?” he asked. “Because we’re trying to do a country show down here to raise money for kids with cancer.” Aldean saw the video and responded, promising to meet the teen and help his mission.
In addition to the mini-golf event, Aldean worked with the Houston Astros, who provided kids with a chance to attend batting practice, meet-and-greets with players, and free tickets to a future game. Hall of Famers Roger Clemens and Jeff Bagwell also attended, playing golf and taking pictures with the families.
Later that evening, DJ made a surprise on-stage appearance at Aldean’s sold-out concert. He shared his story of how Heroes for Children helped him and encouraged fans to get involved, all while entertaining the crowd with a few jokes.
DJ Daniel has been fighting cancer for nearly eight years, defying a prognosis he was given of only five months to live. He has since dedicated countless hours to raising awareness and funds for childhood cancer. The Texas non-profit Heroes For Children, co-founded by Jenny Lawson and Larissa Linton, both of whom lost children to cancer, helps ensure that no family faces this battle alone.
