Los Angeles, California (July 25, 2025)- Janeth Valenzuela, the acclaimed singer-songwriter, boldly reaffirms her musical versatility with the release of “OSA MAYOR,” a 15-track album that deeply reflects her essence as an artist and a woman of the north.
“OSA MAYOR” (Ursa Major) begins with an intimate spoken-word intro by Janeth herself, where she explains the profound origin of the album’s title. This constellation, predominantly visible in the northern skies, symbolizes strength and resilience for Valenzuela – two indispensable virtues that have guided every step of her 17-year musical journey. Yet, beyond its astronomical beauty, the album represents something far deeper: its seven prominent stars serve as a metaphor for the seven fundamental pillars that have illuminated her life and career.
For Janeth, each star represents a distinct light on her path. The first is her family, the bedrock of her existence, who have supported her through the most challenging moments and celebrated every triumph. The second star shines for her friends, those unwavering companions who have stood by her even when the industry proved uncertain. The third star glows brightly for digital platforms, recognizing their crucial role in allowing her music to transcend geographical boundaries and reach new audiences with unprecedented global reach. The fourth is dedicated to the media, acknowledging their vital part in amplifying her voice and helping to weave her compelling story.
However, Janeth also courageously acknowledges the lessons gleaned from adversity. Thus, the fifth star belongs to her “haters,” who, perhaps unknowingly, provided her with even greater strength to persevere. The sixth represents all the people who doubted her, serving as a constant reminder that limits exist only if one chooses to accept them. Finally, the seventh star is reserved for her fans, the brightest light of all, who have been the unwavering engine propelling her to continue creating and sharing her art.
The album’s focus track, “Masoquista,” showcases a more vulnerable and honest facet of the artist, while each song within the collection tells a significant story from her life. In this project, Janeth masterfully fuses her characteristic style with “sonidos tumbados” (laid-back sounds), revealing an exciting evolution that seamlessly combines tradition with innovation. “OSA MAYOR” features a compelling mix of both cherished covers and poignant unreleased tracks, including a special duet with La Fiera de Ojinaga, bringing together two powerhouses of the Regional Mexican genre.
The official music video for “Masoquista” was filmed in Tequila, Jalisco, visually underscoring Janeth’s deep connection to her roots and her proud identity as a “norteña” singer.
Elaborating on the album’s title, Janeth explained: “I am from the north, and my first viral videos were in Chihuahua. The constellation represents strength and resilience, two virtues that have sustained me on this journey. Without them, I would not be here today presenting this album, which is a reflection of my life and my career. The seven stars are my seven pillars; each of them has shaped me, for better or worse, but all have been necessary to get here.”
With “OSA MAYOR,” Janeth Valenzuela not only celebrates her own remarkable story but also honors those who have accompanied her on this extraordinary journey: her dedicated followers, her supportive inner circle, and even those who once doubted her – for all of them, in their unique ways, have contributed to the guiding lights of her compelling constellation.
