Produced by Sergio George and sung by Anthony Ramos, the celebrated track “I Was the One” received an acoustic re-release and new music video on September 12 after Sergio George’s album “ATACA SERGIO! Presents: Urban Salsa Sessions” was nominated for Best Tropical Album at Premios Juventud.

A Quiet Look at Two Legends

In the track, 20-time Latin GRAMMY® winner producer Sergio George recruits American actor-singer of “Hamilton” fame Anthony Ramos to deliver the vocals to a powerful, vulnerable salsa track. The new acoustic version, featuring only George’s piano and Ramos’s vocals, reveals more intimacy with the strong focus it brings to the melody and the heartbreaking story of the lyrics. The minimalist music video also offers an inside look into the barebones process of creating the track.

Concert on the Way

The track also serves to hype up the approaching ¡ATACA SERGIO! All Stars Concert on September 21 at Miami’s Kaseya Center, where Ramos will deliver a live version of his powerful performance of the song as the crown jewel of the night.
