HYBE is doubling down on its North American strategy, committing $100 million in fresh capital to HYBE America as the division continues to evolve under new leadership.
The investment, approved by HYBE’s board at the end of March, comes in the form of a capital increase, with the parent company acquiring 10 million newly issued shares in its wholly owned U.S. arm. According to regulatory filings, the move is intended to support ongoing operations and provide additional flexibility as the business scales.
Originally established in 2019, HYBE America has become a cornerstone of the company’s global expansion, most notably serving as the vehicle for its $1.05 billion acquisition of Ithaca Holdings in 2021, which brought SB Projects and Big Machine Label Group into the fold. The division has since expanded further, including the acquisition of Quality Control Music in 2023.
The latest funding arrives during a period of significant transition led by Isaac Lee, who took over the division in 2025. Since then, HYBE America has undergone a broad restructuring, including leadership changes, new executive hires, and the launch of additional business units to strengthen its foothold across multiple genres and markets.
Recent developments include the rebrand of its Nashville operations into Blue Highway Records, the appointment of Ethiopia Habtemariam to oversee music strategy, and the rollout of new ventures spanning distribution, label services, and Latin-focused imprints.
Financial disclosures offer a mixed picture. While losses have narrowed in recent years, the division remains in the red, reflecting the cost of aggressive expansion. At the same time, HYBE’s parent company has reported record revenues, even as profitability has dipped due to what it describes as long-term investment in global growth.
That strategy extends beyond the U.S., with recent launches in China and India signaling a broader push into key international markets. Still, the American division remains central to HYBE’s ambitions, particularly as it prepares for a projected rebound tied to major releases and touring by BTS, alongside the development of new global acts.
With fresh capital in place and a restructured leadership team, HYBE America is entering its next phase with scale and pressure firmly in focus.
