The singers behind the animated phenomenon “KPop Demon Hunters” are closing out a landmark year with one of the industry’s biggest honors. Vocalists Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, the voices of the fictional group HUNTR/X, have been selected as Women of the Year at the upcoming Billboard Women in Music ceremony.
The trio will receive the distinction on April 29 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. The annual event celebrates influential women shaping today’s music landscape and will feature a lineup of fellow honorees, including Teyana Taylor, Tate McRae, Kehlani, Laufey, Mariah the Scientist, Thalía and Zara Larsson. The ceremony will be hosted by Keke Palmer, who is also scheduled to perform, with the show streaming online through Billboard’s digital platforms.
According to Billboard leadership, the award recognizes the group’s extraordinary impact over the past year. The soundtrack for “KPop Demon Hunters” became a cultural legend, emphasized by the single “Golden,” which spent eight consecutive weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. The track also powered the film’s soundtrack album to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, demonstrating the rare crossover between animated films and musical success.
“Golden” took home best original song honors at both the Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globe Awards, and it is also nominated at the Academy Awards this year.
Their selection marks a historic moment for the Women in Music program. Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami become the first collective act to share the Women of the Year title. Past recipients include SZA, Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift.
With chart leadership, award wins and a global fanbase fueled by both film and music, the artists behind HUNTR/X have quickly moved from voice actors to pop powerhouses.
