Yung Lan and Ruchir Mohan
Hit producer Yung Lan and 1916 Enterprises Partner Ruchir Mohan have joined forces to launch Milan Publishing/Production Group (MPG), a new joint venture rooted in a shared, long-term philosophy. The duo is prioritizing proper artist development and career longevity over the industry’s common pursuit of quick results.
The venture, which focuses on publishing, artist development, and cross-genre creative strategy, has already begun making noise across hip-hop, R&B, and country.
Versatility and Executive Strength
Yung Lan (Milan Modi) brings immense creative credentials to the partnership, including over 6 billion global streams, more than 30 RIAA certifications, and two Grammy nominations. His production credits demonstrate striking versatility, spanning genre giants like Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj to country star Morgan Wallen.
Ruchir Mohan, recently promoted to Partner at 1916 Enterprises, contributes operational strength and a wide creative network. He will co-lead MPG, also spearheading 1916’s new Management & Services Division.
Success and Strategic Roster
The MPG joint venture has quickly delivered impact, already yielding high-profile placements with artists including Lil Durk, Lil Baby, and Saweetie. A key early signing is Grammy-nominated songwriter James Maddocks, who contributed to multiple tracks on Morgan Wallen’s latest No.1 album, including the smash hit “Superman.”
The cross-genre approach allows the duo to build well-rounded careers, giving their roster more flexibility and a wider creative network. Mohan emphasized that 1916 brings the operational foundation, allowing the partnership to amplify talent beyond traditional management structures.
Reinvesting in Longevity
The venture’s launch follows a major strategic move by Yung Lan: the completion of a seven-figure catalog deal with GoldState. Brokered by Mohan, the sale provided Lan with the ability to “reset and approach the next chapter with intention” by reinvesting in MPG’s future and development resources.
Both executives criticized the current industry climate. They assert that the lack of meaningful development is a major issue, stating that “true development takes patience.” MPG aims to address this gap by making development the central focus and teaching fundamentals like business education, ownership, and splits early on.
