The GRAMMY Museum® and the Recording Academy® have opened applications for the fourth annual Quinn Coleman Memorial Scholarship. First and foremost, the program honors the late music executive and DJ. Furthermore, it equips college students with funding, mentorship, and industry access. As a result, more students can launch full-time music careers.
Honoring Quinn Coleman’s Legacy
Quinn Coleman died in 2020 at 31. Nevertheless, his passion for music, culture, and community endures. Moreover, his mother, Debra Lee—former CEO of BET Networks—captured his drive when she said, “Quinn believed deeply in the power of music and was passionate about using his platform to uplift emerging voices and open doors for the next generation of talent.” In this spirit, the scholarship extends his mission. Consequently, it gives students tools to succeed and the confidence to lead.

A Commitment to Diversity and Representation
This year, five students will secure a powerful career boost. Specifically, each recipient earns two $1,000 tuition scholarships. Additionally, they receive a $500 stipend for interview preparation. In addition, they get two $250 stipends for books and equipment. Furthermore, they gain access to financial and emotional wellness seminars. Most importantly, they step directly into the industry through a spring internship at the Recording Academy or Latin Recording Academy®. Likewise, the program anchors in the Academy’s DREAM Network (Diversity Reimagined by Engaging All Musicmakers). Therefore, the initiative ensures that diverse voices shape the future of music.
Applications opened October 10 and close November 14. Meanwhile, the Recording Academy will announce recipients on December 9. Therefore, students who want to innovate, tell stories, and make an impact should apply now. Notably, this opportunity can change a career. Equally important, it builds community.
Ultimately, the Quinn Coleman Memorial Scholarship doesn’t just preserve a legacy—it builds one. By investing in emerging creators, the GRAMMY Museum and Recording Academy drive the next wave of talent. Consequently, they keep Coleman’s vision alive. The aim is simple and ambitious. Create a music industry that uplifts, includes, and inspires.
