Colombian singer-songwriter and nine-time Latin GRAMMY® winner Fonseca has teamed up with Panamanian icon Rubén Blades for the release of the official music video for “Nunca Me Fui.” The song, nominated for the 2025 Latin GRAMMY® Award for Best Tropical Song, is an emotional reflection on homeland, belonging, and the enduring journey of migrants who carry their roots wherever life takes them.
The video, directed by Leonardo González Quevedo and produced by Nueve Voltios, captures this message through a powerful mix of artificial intelligence, digital animation, and urban stencil art. Set against the backdrop of New York City—a global meeting point for cultures and communities—the project transforms the city into a living canvas. Drawings of Fonseca and Blades come to life across walls and streets, seamlessly blending with the energy of the city. Every movement was carefully created frame by frame, resulting in a striking visual experience that feels both modern and deeply human.
The creative direction led by María José Marulanda (AI Director) and Rubén Antorveza (Animation and Postproduction Director) gives the video a poetic touch, turning it into a celebration of migration as a story of hope and connection. It honors those who leave their homeland behind while never letting go of its essence.
This collaboration between Fonseca and Blades has become one of the most meaningful moments in Latin music this year—an artistic meeting of generations and traditions. “Nunca Me Fui” also forms part of Fonseca’s upcoming album, which includes other collaborations such as “Venga Lo Que Venga” with Rawayana and “Enamorarte Mil Veces” featuring Manuel Medrano.
Throughout his career, Fonseca has released celebrated albums like Gratitud, Ilusión, Conexión, VIAJANTE, and Tropicalia. Beyond his musical achievements, he continues his work through the Gratitud Foundation, promoting art and music as tools for social transformation among youth.
Currently, Fonseca is taking his Tropicalia Tour across Latin America, North America, and Mexico, performing in cities including Guayaquil, Los Angeles, and Mexico City.
With “Nunca Me Fui,” Fonseca and Rubén Blades remind us that no matter how far one travels, the heart always finds a way back home.
