Adding to the list of accolades, the Universidad Nacional de Rosario in Argentina announced it will honor Páez with a Doctorado Honoris Causa, the maximum award granted by a public university in the country. This honor recognizes the entirety of his career, which has left an indelible mark on Latin American culture. The date for the official homage will be announced soon.

These national honors arrive as Páez experiences a fresh wave of international attention. He recently debuted on NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series, inaugurating their annual “El Tiny” tribute to Hispanic Heritage Month. The performance quickly became the most viewed “El Tiny 2025” presentation on YouTube, surpassing 1.4 million views. Páez delighted the audience with a set that spanned his vast repertoire, including classics like “A rodar mi vida” and “Mariposa tecknicolor,” and new material from his latest work.

That new work, the critically acclaimed album NOVELA (released March 2025), is also gathering major attention. The ambitious project, which spans 25 original tracks and took 36 years to complete, is currently nominated for two major awards at the 26th Annual Latin GRAMMYs: Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song for “Sale el Sol.” Rolling Stonepraised the album, stating it “will be remembered as one of the albums more fascinating of the singer,” while GRAMMY.com called it an “immersive listening experience.” The album was composed, and co-produced with Gustavo Borner and Diego Olivero, and recorded in legendary spaces like Abbey Road Studios in London.
Fans in the US will have the opportunity to celebrate this momentous period in Fito Páez’s career during the “Páez Tecknicolor USA ‘25” tour. The legendary artist is set to visit major cities in November, including Los Angeles (Nov. 15), Miami (Nov. 20), and Brooklyn, NY (Nov. 23).
