DY makes his return to the big stage. Ighor Cardozo.
Los Angeles, California (August 21, 2025)- After announcing his retirement in 2022, Latin music icon DY, formerly known as Daddy Yankee, is officially back. The Puerto Rican superstar will make his return to the stage at the 2025 Billboard Latin Music Week, a coveted event scheduled for October 20–24 at the Fillmore Miami Beach.
DY is set to headline “The Power of Reinvention” panel, where he will discuss his legendary career, his artistic evolution, and his plans for this new chapter. Leila Cobo, Billboard’s Chief Content Officer for Latin and Español, noted the significance of his return, stating, “In 2006, DY was the Star Q&A at the Billboard Latin Music Conference, and the first reggaeton artist on our cover. Now, his return marks another defining chapter in our story.”
The announcement follows the recent release of DY’s latest single and music video, “Sonríele,” a summer anthem released under HYBE Latin America. When the song was released in July, DY commented, “This isn’t about a comeback. It’s about connection. Life’s not perfect, but we have to smile through it.”
