The inspiration for “Dulce y Amarga” came to Duplat after an evening at a music awards ceremony, where he felt a mix of sadness and happiness that later turned into music. In a planned writing session with Andrés Cepeda, the chemistry was immediate. In just 25 minutes, the lyrics and melody came together, a testament to the natural creative synergy between the two artists.
“I believe this song will be a before and after in my musical career,” confesses Duplat. “It’s a song where I came together with an artist at a precise moment in my life, with the urgent need to say something in my songs. For me, ‘Dulce y Amarga’ summarizes not only how I see music, but life itself. It’s my favorite song to date.”
Andrés Cepeda adds, “I met Duplat backstage at a concert and after talking for a while, we realized we would easily be friends. A couple of weeks later, he came to my house, sat at the piano, and in 45 minutes, we had our first song: ‘Dulce y Amarga.’ I think it’s a great collaboration where our musical styles understand each other perfectly and combine very well.”

With the piano as its centerpiece and the complicity of two voices that meet at different stages of their lives and careers, “Dulce y Amarga” becomes a musical manifesto. The production, handled by Duplat, reinforces the song’s pop/rock essence with a deeply emotional sound. The recording was done at Audiovisión studios in Bogotá, with a talented team of musicians and an impeccable mixing and mastering process.
