A Tribute to the Heart of Mexico
“Alguien” marks the beginning of a new musical project for Carlos Rivera. Written by him in collaboration with Luis Mejía and Iván Gámez, the song intertwines mariachi chords with subtle melodies, telling the story of unrequited love. As he did last year with his hit “Calavera,” Rivera aims to create a piece that captures the essence of Mexican traditions, and “Alguien” is no exception.
The singer’s deep love for his country is reflected in every note and in the moving lyrics: “And someone today is suffering because of her, someone is dying of pain and madness, someone is wondering if this has a cure, and that someone, is me in case you have any doubt.”
A Video with the Flavor of Mexico
The music video for “Alguien” was directed by Yerick Johnsson, who also directed the “Calavera” video. Filmed in emblematic locations like Xochimilco in Mexico City and Huamantla, Rivera’s hometown, the video highlights the beauty of Mexican traditions. Model and contestant from La Casa de los Famosos México, Priscila Valverde, stars in the piece, which visually complements the song’s profound connection to the heart of Mexico.
With this release, Carlos Rivera invites us into what will be a series of projects that honor the richness of Mexican music, reaffirming his place as one of the most influential artists of his generation.
