Los Angeles, California (May 14, 2025)- Two titans of Mexican music — Carín León and Alejandro Fernández — unite for the first time on the powerful and emotionally charged single “Me Está Doliendo,” available now on all digital platforms. The release marks a major moment in contemporary Música Mexicana, bridging generations and reaffirming the genre’s emotional depth and timeless appeal.
“Me Está Doliendo” is a ranchera ballad that dives deep into the turmoil of heartbreak and wounded pride. With evocative lyrics and passionate vocal performances, the song tells the story of a man fighting the temptation to call an old love, begging his friends to take his phone away as his heart struggles in her absence. “Late muy lento,” he confesses, his pulse slowed by longing. The refrain delivers a devastating truth: “para amarte salió bueno, pa’ olvidarte salió malo.”
Musically, the track stays faithful to traditional ranchera instrumentation but introduces subtle modern touches, creating a soundscape that feels both classic and contemporary. The raw, lived-in delivery from both León and Fernández captures the kind of emotional honesty that defines the best of the genre. It’s a collaboration steeped in heartbreak, but also in deep respect between two artists at the peak of their powers.
The duet arrives just days after Carín León went viral on social media for performing a snippet of Alejandro Fernández’s iconic hit “Me Dediqué a Perderte,” a song that helped cement Fernández’s legacy with its release on the 2004 album A Corazón Abierto. That impromptu homage now feels like a foreshadowing of this poignant collaboration between the heir to the Fernández dynasty and one of Música Mexicana’s most important modern voices.
“Me Está Doliendo” is also a preview of the extended edition of Palabra de To’s, Carín León’s acclaimed 2024 album. The new version includes 16 tracks curated by Edgar Barrera and produced by Antonio Zepeda, Alberto Medina, and León himself. The project brings together 28 standout composers — from legends to rising stars — in a celebration of lyrical craft and emotional storytelling.
And there’s more to come. At the end of the month, León will release “Si Tú Me Vieras,” his second collaboration with Colombian superstar Maluma. The track, which the two debuted live during Maluma’s massive “Medallo en el Mapa 2.0” stadium concert in Medellín, will also be featured on León’s upcoming album set for release in the coming weeks.
With “Me Está Doliendo,” Carín León and Alejandro Fernández deliver a soul-baring anthem of loss and longing, proving once again why Música Mexicana continues to resonate across borders and generations.
