The Spanish singer-songwriter Enrique Bunbury recently released a preview of his new album by sharing the music video of “La Voz.” ESCUCHA LA VOZ AQUÍ.
“La Voz”, as described by the music video’s director Sergio Abuja, is an audiovisual work that moves between art and documentary. Life in death coexist in a cycle within “La Voz”, along with the presences of water, earth, light, matter, and bodies. “With this work, we propose a meditation on the essential and ephemeral: an exercise in observing and reconnecting with the natural world,” Abuja said.
While Abuja began working with Bunbury on the project, he claimed that Bunbury had challenged him to “try not to rationalize the lyrics”, and urged Abuja to let himself be carried by the music and the sensations. “We wanted the visual piece to be more of a feeling than a narrative: a piece that invites you to look rather than understand, an invitation to let yourself be guided by the natural rhythm of things,” Abuja explained.
“We wanted to create something that could only exist through the musicians’ sensitivity and the vulnerability of the voice,” Bunbury added. “For the music and its performers to be the true protagonists.”
“La Voz” invites the listener to envelop themselves in a sonic world where honesty, emotion, and the craftsmanship of music creates a uniquely timeless dialogue.
