A Cult Classic Returns
The cult 1987 vampire film The Lost Boys is rising again under Broadway’s lights. The new stage adaptation blends theater with a rock-driven score and fresh star power. With a cameo from Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, the production aims to channel the edgy energy fans remember. Moreover, it promises a high-octane soundtrack that nods to the film’s legacy.

The musical will debut at the Palace Theatre, with previews beginning March 27 and an official opening on April 26. Directed by two-time Tony Award winner Michael Arden (Parade), it features a book by David Hornsby (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Chris Hoch. Additionally, choreography comes from Lauren Yalango-Grant and Christopher Cree Grant. Meanwhile, the vampire gang features Ali Louis Bourzgui (“David”), Maria Wirries, Brian Flores, Sean Grandillo, and Dean Maupin.
A Rock-Driven EP Release
To build anticipation, producers dropped a three-song EP titled The Lost Boys — The Santa Carla Sessions. Available for streaming beginning October 31, it includes the muscular lead single “Have to Have You,” with Slash delivering a blistering solo. Bourzgui recalled the electrifying moment: “And then they got freakin’ Slash to come in!” He added, “We’re all standing up and we’re screaming and jumping up and down.” Moreover, he described the session footage in vivid detail: “Slash is sitting down, so chill in his chair and he pulls out his guitar and plays this absolutely insane solo, as he does, in one or two takes and is like, ‘is that good?’ This incredible, mathematical, insane solo.”
While the EP spotlights Slash, it also showcases range. Other tracks include “Belong to Someone” performed by LJ Benet and “Wild,” a duet by Caissie Levy with guest artist Patrick Wilson. Additionally, the musical’s score is by The Rescues, with music and lyrics from Kyler England, AG, and Gabriel Mann. The story credits go to James Jeremias and Janice Roberta Fischer, honoring the original film’s roots.
Finally, the revival pays tribute to director Joel Schumacher and the iconic cast, including Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, Jami Gertz, Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Patric, and Dianne Wiest. With nostalgia, star power, and live-wire music, The Lost Boys is poised to be a spring standout. Therefore, fans should stream the EP and grab tickets now—because in Santa Carla, the night is always waiting.
