Aspen Live returns to Aspen, Colorado, Dec. 4–6 for three days of focused conversation and winter activities. The conference limits attendance to 150 people to keep discussions intimate and productive. Jim Lewi, a longtime touring and event producer, founded and produces the event through Embarc Events.
Networking Through Activities
Mornings begin with group breakfasts and optional activities like skiing, cooking classes, and nature walks. Meanwhile, Lewi keeps meetings after the lifts close to encourage informal networking. In the afternoons, panel discussions invite candid input from attendees. Additionally, evenings feature cocktail parties and dinners that help ideas turn into partnerships.
The program mixes pressing industry topics with lessons from other sectors. For example, a headline panel pairs Ticketmaster’s Dave Marcus, AXS’s Dean DeWulf, and StubHub’s Sean Stewart, with manager Randy Nichols moderating. Furthermore, they will tackle the secondary ticket market and anti‑bot strategies. Lewi expects tough questions, but he says the conversation must happen. Moreover, he argues rights holders should capture more upside when tickets resell, and he sees direct relationships as part of that solution.
Learning From Other Models
Other sessions explore Latin music’s growth and how performing arts centers manage subscribers and advance booking. Likewise, a session with the Nashville Sounds examines fan engagement and steady ticket sales at the minor league level. Consequently, Lewi asks what live music can learn from these models. He wants attendees to leave with practical ideas they can test at their venues and on their tours.
Aspen Live stands out for its small scale and honest dialogue. Therefore, the format favors discussion over lectures and encourages attendees to speak up. Over the years, many business relationships and companies began at Aspen Live. Finally, the conference aims to help the industry tackle affordability, shifting consumer habits, and distribution challenges.
