Beyond his executive responsibilities, Harrison has been an active contributor to the wider independent community, serving on A2IM’s Indie Week committee since 2012 and holding a board position at the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN).
The new leadership signals A2IM’s continued focus on advocating for and supporting its members amidst an evolving music landscape. Harrison commented on his appointment, acknowledging both the strength and the challenges facing the independent community. He expressed his commitment to ensuring A2IM members can grow independently and thrive on their own terms, vowing to work closely with members, global trade organizations, commercial partners, and policymakers.
Dr. Burgess conveyed his full confidence in Harrison, stating, “I am honored to have served this extraordinary community for the past decade, and I could not be more pleased to welcome Ian Harrison as A2IM’s next CEO. Ian’s deep experience, and lifelong commitment to independent music position him perfectly to guide A2IM into its next chapter.”
To ensure a seamless transition, Dr. Burgess will collaborate closely with Harrison and the A2IM Board through the end of 2025. This leadership change reinforces A2IM’s dedication to championing the independent music sector into its next phase of growth and advocacy.
