Blake Shelton’s long relationship with country radio just hit another milestone. The superstar has scored his 31st chart-topper with “Stay Country or Die Tryin’,” a swaggering, no-nonsense anthem that continues the rollout of his recent album “For Recreational Use Only.”
Sheldon reflected, “I love this song, and I’m so grateful the fans do too. There’s no better way to kick off the Vegas residency on Thursday than with ‘Stay Country or Die Tryin’ at the top of the charts.”
The track, written by Drew Parker, Graham Barham, Sam Ellis, and Beau Bailey, leans hard into the grit-and-gravel attitude Shelton has built his career on, celebrating small-town pride, resilience, and the kind of values that don’t bend easily. It’s the second single from the album to reach the top, following “Texas,” and it arrives at a fitting moment with Shelton set to step back onto the stage in Las Vegas.
This week, Shelton launches the latest run of his residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, with eight shows scheduled between January 15 and 31. He’s promised a set that leans even deeper into his country roots, mixing career-spanning hits with newer material, and in true Shelton fashion, plenty of humor and chaos along the way.
With more than 30 No. 1 singles and various accolades to his name, Shelton’s Vegas shows are expected to be less of a greatest-hits victory lap and more of a full-throttle celebration. Alongside staples from across his catalog, fans can expect plenty of songs from “For Recreational Use Only,” his first studio album in nearly four years, which also features guest appearances from Gwen Stefani, John Anderson, and Craig Morgan.
Beyond the charts and the stage, Shelton remains busy on multiple fronts. He continues to expand his Ole Red bar and music venue brand with Ryman Hospitality, and recently wrapped the first season of “The Road,” a new CBS series he co-produced that follows aspiring musicians through the highs and lows of life on tour.
With “Stay Country or Die Tryin’” sitting at the top of the airplay charts and a packed Vegas run ahead, 2026 is already shaping up to be another victory lap for one of country music’s most reliable hitmakers.
