Carin Leon, the global ambassador of Mexican music, is ending 2025 with a massive surprise for his fans. Just one week after releasing the original version of his album Chapayeka, the superstar has dropped a deluxe version titled Chapayeka (Puro Chucky). This surprise release is part of a special holiday tradition Leon has kept for the last five years, offering new music as a Christmas gift to his supporters.
This new production is more than just a standard update. It features 17 new tracks, bringing the total project to an impressive 37 songs. The entire album was recorded live in the La Matanza neighborhood of Hermosillo, Sonora, which is Leon’s hometown. By recording in the place where he grew up, he brings an authentic, raw energy to the music. The title itself, Puro Chucky, uses local slang from Hermosillo that refers to something of the highest quality. The lead single is a reimagined version of the 1978 classic Mi unico camino by Los Cadetes de Linares, showing his deep respect for traditional regional Mexican music.
Fans can also dive deeper into his world through a new documentary released on his YouTube channel. Directed by Pablo Celaya and Oliver Rendon, the film gives an inside look at his journey from the streets of Sonora to global stardom. It features never-before-seen footage and interviews that explain how he became one of the most influential Latin artists today. This release caps off an incredible year where he won his first Grammy and his fourth Latin Grammy.
Carin Leon continues to break barriers, blending traditional sounds with rock, pop, and global genres. As he looks toward 2026, where he will become the first Latin artist to perform at the Las Vegas Sphere, Chapayeka (Puro Chucky) serves as a perfect tribute to his roots. It is a high-quality collection that proves why he remains the leading voice of contemporary Mexican music worldwide.
